A day at the beach

There is nothing that feeds my soul more than watching my little girls run along the sandy beach, the waves chasing their little feet, the squeals and giggles as the warm sunshine tickles our skin.

 This Auntie… swoon!

My sweet nephew Tage, he’s grown so much since this.

I’m currently booking sessions in Southern California for this summer.  Email me if you’re interested! cassmillerphoto (at) gmail (dot) com.

the olcott family | st george family photographer

The Olcott Family is one of my very favorite families in the world.  They moved to Vegas this year and I have missed them being around so much!  Jordan is one of my closest friends and also my amazing hair stylist.  :)  I would be so much less fabulous without her.  I mean, look at this family’s style.  Perfection!  It may have something to do with Josh being the general manager at Polo Ralph Lauren….

Their session last year was one of my very favorites so I knew this year would be hard to beat.  I loved that she wanted a more urban location this year to switch things up.  I’ve got to say.. it may have topped last year’s session.  I loved how these turned out.

Aren’t they fabulous??

Happy Tuesday, y’all!

Meet the Pattens

From the moment I stumbled onto Erica’s blog, I knew we were a match made in heaven.  She is a mom to all girls, that comes from a family of all girls, just like me.  Our little ladies are very close in age, except she’s just added a lovely little smiley addition to their sweet family.  We had so much fun just chatting at her session about so many things we could both relate.  It was fun to see Ivy and Olive and how similar they were to my Harlo and Stella in the way they interacted and their cute little personalities.

Erica is stunningly beautiful, has a heart of gold and is so incredibly talented.  I have no idea how that even happens! It was such a pleasure photographing this family.  I can’t wait to get them in front of my camera again. :)

Happy Thursday! (are you as mixed up on your days as I am?)

The V Children | St. George Childrens Photographer

The Vernon children were as sweet as they come.  I loved how their cute mom, Anne, brought something that each kid was into right now.  Totally helped bring their personalities out in this mini session.

I hope you enjoy these sweet faces as much as I did. :)

Miss Bentlee Turns One | St George Baby Photographer

This sweet little girl turned one this week.  I have been photographing this little angel since she was in her mama’s belly.  It’s been so fun to look back through her birth and newborn and six month sessions to see how much she’s grown and changed.
This has been my first whole round of belly to one year sessions and it is so exciting!  I have become such close friends with Bentlee’s mama, Jordan and I’m officially Aunt Cass to she and her brother,  Boston.  I always feel such a closeness to my “birth babies” and their moms and I feel so blessed to be a part of her birthday celebrations this year.  Here’s to many more birthdays to come!

For her birthday session we set up a glamorous little garden party (the theme of her birthday) and I could not be more happy with the outcome.  Not to mention we had the most beautiful, golden, hazey light!  I was in heaven.

Enjoy!

Loved these shots of Jordan and Bentlee,

Isn’t she gorgeous?

This Mama Is Loved | Southern Utah Lifestyle Family Photographer

Remember my very best gal, Hales?  You’ve seen her and her beautiful boys here, and here.  Well, she came for her annual weekly trip which for me = pure heaven.  There is not enough nice things I could ever possibly say about this woman, but she is just the absolute greatest.
We took her and the boys up for a quick photo sesh… we came across an unsuspected airplane and all the attention from the boys went right out the window.  They were ecstatic and were not paying a second thought to Aunt Cass, which was PERFECT.  Perfect, I say! When we left, Haley said “Oh my goodness, sorry my boys were so crazy, I’m sure you didn’t get one good picture of them.” and I hear this a lot, I really really do.  But you know what?  This is probably my favorite session ever.
Photo sessions can be so overwhelming, especially when you’re the parent of two toddlers who are squealing and running around with excitement, but I promise you, when your kids are acting this way, they are being themselves and that to me is a recipe for perfection.  Would it have been cute if Finn and Ollie were posed just ever so perfectly with the airplane in the background?  Totally.  But is what I got even better than that?  Yes.  So at a session with me, please don’t be afraid to play.

So back to Haley and her boys, this is them in all of their perfection.

Enjoy!

Did I mention that this mama is loved?

I mean, really really loved.

And I loved this shot of the three of them.  Perfectly describes what life is like with two toddlers.

Thank you for letting me share a piece of my heart with you.

Harlo and Stella | St. George Childrens Photographer

Sometimes my favorite images come from the sessions that had no planning or preparation at all.  In fact, most of my favorite images come from those types of sessions.
Last week my girls were just totting around the house, having a grand ol’ time together playing on my bed and I thought to myself, “aaah, I want to remember mornings like this forever!” and I quickly jumped for the only way I know how to document things that I feel, and this session happened.
These are probably my favorite shots of my girls. (Although I’m pretty sure I say that about every new picture I have of them) They just show their own personalities and their sisterly bond so well.  They may not be perfect images, but they’re perfectly Harlo and Stella.

Thanks for letting me share them with you,

Meet the Noah Family | Southern Utah Family Photographer

Hello dear friends, I hope you all had a fabulous January!  I took almost the whole month off to be totally and completely with my family.  We went on all sorts of adventures and got all kinds of things done and it was really nice.  Nothing makes me feel more creative and excited about photography than taking some time away from it.  After the busy holiday season I was definitely sick of sitting in front of my computer editing for hours on end, so it was nice to get AWAY for a bit.  And wouldn’t you know?  I have all sorts of new, fun, exciting projects coming up this Spring.  Like, BIG projects.  I am so stoked about it all.  I also have a few projects I’m working on that I will be needing models for, so stay tuned for my model search on the blog.
My Spring is starting to book up rather quickly, so if you have been dying to get a lovely Spring session in, don’t hesitate!  I love Spring sessions and I am so looking forward to them this year.

Also, are you in Salt Lake City or Southern California?  I will be coming to YOU.  If you’re interested in booking a session, please email me, cassmillerphoto{at}gmail.com.  Can’t wait!

And where would you be if I wasn’t leaving you with a very lovely little family? Not at cassidymillerphotography.com!

So, without further adieu, meet the Noah’s.

Meet The Baird Family | Southern Utah Family Photographer

This family is so awesome.  I met Trisha when I was pregnant with my 2nd baby.  My husband and I took her Bradley Method classes and I loved her so much, we hired her as our doula (laboring coach) as well.  She played a big role in my pregnancy and natural birth and we are bound for life because of it.  Not to mention they are all an amazing, active family.  Trisha runs a few marathons a year, Jeff is an Ironman athlete, they’re always biking or running or on some cool adventure with their family.  Every once in a while we’ll bump into each other at a birth I’m photographing and she’s assisting in, which is always so fun.  I love any chance I get to catch up with her, so I was elated when she booked her family’s holiday session with me.
I’m used to shooting young families with babies and toddlers, so to be able to shoot a family with teenagers was a fun change of pace.  We breezed through the session and got a lot of great shots.

If you are pregnant or planning to be, I seriously recommend taking Trisha’s classes, they’re amazing.

Thanks for looking!

Meet the Morris Family | Southern Utah Family Photographer

I had so much fun with the Morris family.  It was this sweet mama’s birthday the day of the session so it was fun to celebrate for a bit with them.  We spent most of the time chatting and giggling with lots of snuggling and lovin’s involved.  That little Kimber’s red hair just melts me.  She was the perfect little model. :)

Bryn Sneak Peek | St. George Childrens Photographer

I had the funnest day ever, playing with Miss Bryntlee who is turning 5 really soon.  What a little character she is!  This is my very favorite way to photograph kids.  Bryn directed the entire session herself. :)
Here is just a small peek at her fun session.

nieces and nephews make the world go round… | St. George Children Photographer

Can you believe this little guy is already 5 months old?  Everytime I see him, I expect him to be swaddled up and all fresh and new smelling.. I’m always surprised when he’s a smiley, wiggly, squishy little hunk.  My heavens, he’s a dream baby!
A couple weeks ago my sister and her kids were down visiting from Salt Lake and while they were in town I had to grab them for a quick session.  Usually when the kids come over I make them pose for me, which some love and some hate, but it’s my favorite game and they love their Aunt Cass and they just do it. :)   Angie’s got the best kids, ever.  Brakken is the sweetest brother in the entire universe!  Maizee is the queen of the household, which they all know, and Tage… Tage is just the sweetest little bundle of sunshine you’ve ever met.
I love being an Aunt.  It’s second only to being a mom, and I must admit that sometimes, being an aunt is even funner!  It’s just like being a mom but you ALWAYS get to be the good guy.  Yay for nieces and nephews!

We just did this session all cozy on my bed, just like I love.  The kids were SO fun and funny in this session.  First, they’re all crazy photogenic.. it just runs madly in their blood.  Second, Brakken had a million (really good) ideas for each shot, and Maizee was cracking me up every second asking me as she would move her hand one way or another “is this cute, Cass?… what about this? … How about if I do my face like this?” I loved how each shot turned out.  Anything that looks really creative was probably Brakken’s idea.  I need to bring him on every shoot as my assistant.  The kid’s got mad skills!

The one that {almost} got away…

Lindy was the winner of my of my {GIVEAWAY} clear back in February.  We had scheduled her first session time just shortly after the contest and everytime her session would roll around, something would come up!  It was raining, her baby had the flu, she had the flu, I had the flu, her grandfather was ill, I had to leave town, it was windy… I was honestly beginning to think we would never actually meet.
FINALLY we had a day that no natural disaster or emergency or symptom came up… aside from poor Oliver teething and skipping a nap, but we were determined.  Luckily, I speak teething-two-year-old fluently because I have one myself, and in no time Oliver was running all over the place having a grand ol’ time.
Big brother Jack, on the other hand, was nothing short of hysterical.  He immediately started throwing out all sorts of facts about bugs and foxtails and rabbits.. I had no idea.  Not to mention, the child is an amazing model.  He was striking poses left and right.  The picture with the rabbit was his idea –and it was a great one! :)
Lindy was so fun and stylish.  I told her before that she could bring anything along as far as props go to personalize the shoot a little bit.  I always love when people have their own stuff with a cool story behind it and they didn’t disappoint.  The hat Lindy is wearing in a few shots is her late grandfather’s favorite hat that he passed on to her.  The blanket used in the session was made from her grandmother’s old play dresses.  I loved it all.
We got absolutely AMAZING light once the sun died down and I think Ollie’s teeth just spiced the pictures right up.  I really secretly get excited when the kids have little meltdowns  during our session.  No amazing pictures have ever been done of a toddler who sat quietly and said “cheese!”, I say. (although, I know this is totally not cute when it is our own child acting up during a photo session… it’s never cute when my own kids do it either ;)

It’s days when I meet people like this that make me feel so lucky I actually call this my job.

After this session I’m a little baby hungry for a boy.  Very different from all the pink and tea parties going on at my house, but they were a blast!

Thanks for looking!
