Meet The Baird Family | Southern Utah Family Photographer

This family is so awesome.  I met Trisha when I was pregnant with my 2nd baby.  My husband and I took her Bradley Method classes and I loved her so much, we hired her as our doula (laboring coach) as well.  She played a big role in my pregnancy and natural birth and we are bound for life because of it.  Not to mention they are all an amazing, active family.  Trisha runs a few marathons a year, Jeff is an Ironman athlete, they’re always biking or running or on some cool adventure with their family.  Every once in a while we’ll bump into each other at a birth I’m photographing and she’s assisting in, which is always so fun.  I love any chance I get to catch up with her, so I was elated when she booked her family’s holiday session with me.
I’m used to shooting young families with babies and toddlers, so to be able to shoot a family with teenagers was a fun change of pace.  We breezed through the session and got a lot of great shots.

If you are pregnant or planning to be, I seriously recommend taking Trisha’s classes, they’re amazing.

Thanks for looking!

Harlo turns THREE

Yesterday my little girl celebrated her 3rd birthday. I can’t even believe it. I don’t know why, but something about this birthday just seemed so magical. I guess 3 is a pretty big milestone. It means you get barbies for your birthday, it means you’re a BIG GIRL. It means you’re old enough to get in and out of the car all by yourself. It means you have an opinion… about everything. It means you’re not really a toddler anymore. It means your mama might lose a tear or two over this birthday.
This year Harlo directed her whole birthday session. She’s not a lover of the camera right now, or rather, a lover of anything that’s not her idea, so I let her make the rules to her own session and I must say.. she did a fabulous job. She opted for pictures on the table, which striked me as my new favorite birthday tradition with the girls. She also asked for a small cake, a candle, her dance costume and tap shoes. She left little room for my input, and it ended up perfectly.

Both of my girls birthdays are always so special to me, but Harlo’s birthday is always going to mean so much because the day she celebrates being a year older, I celebrate another year of motherhood. I sometimes like to think back to what my life was like, and what I was like before I had these babies. It seems like that was a completely different life than the one I’m on now. I guess in a way, it is. My daughters have made my life so unbelievably rich. Everything I do is for them, inspired by them, because of them. I’m thankful every single day for this life. I love them more than I ever knew I was capable of loving.
So happy anniversary of motherhood to me, and more importantly…

Happy Birthday to my sweet Harlo.
You came into my life at the most perfect time.
I love you more every single day and I’m so glad I get to be your mom.
I wish you another year of happiness, growth, and love, my darling baby girl.
Thank you for being mine.

xoxo, Mommy

Meet the Morris Family | Southern Utah Family Photographer

I had so much fun with the Morris family.  It was this sweet mama’s birthday the day of the session so it was fun to celebrate for a bit with them.  We spent most of the time chatting and giggling with lots of snuggling and lovin’s involved.  That little Kimber’s red hair just melts me.  She was the perfect little model. :)

Thanks for looking!

Just a few things about today…

Harlo had her first dance performance today.
Harlo totally ROCKED her dance performance. LOVED the stage and would wave to all her fans as she walked on and off, followed along pretty well, but just made up her own dance moves if she didn’t know/care what the others were doing. We had to walk away with her crying “I need to be on stage!” after it was over. She was so proud. It was such a special day and one I think I will always remember.

The girls had their first “sitting” with santa this year… Yep, both hated it. But not as bad as I thought.. Harlo was actually totally fine while we were there… as long as I was holding her. She asked Santa for “Princess dress-ups and barbies”. The only part she didn’t like was actually sitting on his lap. I was way hesitant to even try it out, but she insisted she wanted to do it, so we did. :) The picture is priceless.I honestly thought today that we lost Stella’s boo… like, forever. (“boo” is Stella’s pink blanky that she CANNOT be without.) I seriously almost had a heart attack. I was nearly in tears when we retraced our steps enough to remember it definitely made it in the car from the Dickens festival, we found it in the bathroom shortly after. Whew! I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for a “boo 2″ at the store, but still hope we never fully lose the original.

We finally saw the newest twilight movie tonight! The first twilight movie I saw was the day before I gave birth to Harlo, and I was reading all the books in those first few weeks of my new life as a new mom. Definitely brought me back with that movie tonight. Such fond memories I have of that time.
A very busy and very fun saturay. We live a sweet little life. :)

the Olcotts | Southern Utah Family Photography

Hello my wonderful friends!  I have missed you.  It’s DECEMBER!  Can you believe it?  I have nearly made it through the busiest season of my photography life and my head is still spinning with all the excitement.  I haven’t been posting to this blog as much I would like, but I have kept up okay on Facebook, so if you’re not a “fan” yet, you might want to head over there until I can get my sessions caught up on here. :) This was my first year of being completely booked up.. and then some.  I have been so spoiled with THE BEST clients, ever, this year.  So THANK YOU, thank you, thank you!  To everyone who has “liked” me on facebook, and who follows me along here on my little ol’ blog, and for the people who allow me to capture this time in your life.. my goodness, THANK YOU.  I am overwhelmed by all the love.
On that note, it was Small Business Saturday last weekend, did you know that? Did you also know that my husband and I own a few small businesses?  Well in honor of that, and the fact that I am just so appreciative of all the business being had this year, I have decided to run a very special, special.  :)

25% off on all gift cards purchased now through  December 15th!

How fun would a mini session be as a stocking stuffer?  Or a session as a gift for mom and dad from the kids?  PERFECTION!
So if you haven’t decided on what you’re getting for your sister/spouse/mom/bff, AND you really want to support small businesses this year… well this special is for you!

So, of course I would never leave you without some photography love… Here is the Olcott Family.  I have been so excited to share this session with you!  Jordan and I met when I did her birth package sessions, HERE and HERE, and now she is one of my closest friends.  I had such a fun time doing their birth & newborn sessions and I was totally stoked to get them all in front of my camera again.  We had such a great time just playing around, blowing dandelions, hangin’ out.  As the sun started to set behind the mountains and we loaded the kids up, I decided to grab a few quick shots of Josh and Jordan.  It was nearly dark outside by this time (I literally shot til the very last smidge of light was had), but I loved the shots I got.  Definitely glad we did them anyway.

Thanks for looking!  And Happy Holidays!
